Heart Locks Down Her Blogs
Heart has decided to lock down her blogs and web sites, except for her campaign blog and wiki, due to legal considerations. There is a great deal I would like to say about this silencing of another feminist leader, but it might be used against her, so I am not at liberty to explain any further.

Tell Heart I am thinking of her. Tell her I send her courage, the love of a sister in struggle and that I wish her peace, grace, and strength.

I sent her your message. I suspect she has been warned not to correspond with anyone.

Hope her spirits are up and everything works out. She really is an inspiration.

Please tell Heart I am thinking about her and sending her love, too!
I was feeling so in the dark… I hadn’t visited her blog for the week-ish before it was suddenly locked, so if something happened during that time that led to the locking, I wasn’t aware of it. Thus, I was so confused about why she had seemingly disappeared. I wondered why she wasn’t responding to emails – I thought maybe I was using the wrong address. Is there no way to reach her?
I was confused, but now I’m worried. Is there anything we can do to support her?

Heart is probably receiving and appreciating emails, but I do not think she is able to respond. The only way I know to support her directly (as opposed to in spirit) would be to send her money via Paypal at cheryllindseyseelhoff@gmail.com. I must say, she has not asked me to solicit funds for her. I am only mentioning this because you asked if there was some way to support her.

I don’t know what the reasons may be that Heart has shut down her blog (some thoughts, but don’t *know*). However, if finances is one of them, I have to say I cannot help out there. I won’t be financially supporting any blog or women’s issue outside of Canada from now on. There are so many needs here at home, and I have very little to give — 10 % of practically nothing is still nothing — so because for a few years now I have given a bit of monetary support to U.S. bloggers and issues (not just blogs) I decided I’d do that now exclusively for Canadian issues and advocates. I hope you understand, and this won’t be interpreted as not supporting someone. I support Heart, in spirit at least. I am now supporting Canadian issues: women’s health, native women’s rights, sexual abuse and rape issues (which is where I put pornstitution) and spousal and partner abuse. I hope I’ve worded that carefully enough not to cause confusion about my meaning.

This is terrible. I miss her blog, her thoughts, her loving exposure of women’s culture so much. I hope she comes out OK.

I think I am at liberty to say finances had nothing to do with the reasons Heart locked down her blogs. I probably should not have mentioned money, though it stands to reason most people with legal troubles need money. I reiterate, because various enemies of Heart have tried to impugn Heart for asking for money, that she did not ask me to solicit funds for her. However, if someone who can afford it wants to send her money, I am sure she could use the help.
I expect Heart will come out OK, though likely not unscathed. Someone is determined to make as much trouble for her as possible, and if the court cooperates, might be in a position to make plenty of trouble for her. Anyone can imagine how some of the material on her blog might not go down so well in court, since courts are hardly bastions of justice, especially for radical feminists.

Well, they may agitate and be determined (I’d choose another word) but I doubt they can really achieve anything. Anyway, we don’t have to just sit here playing cat’s cradle.
Did you read that Norma Rae died? I think Heart would have written about this:

I did not know that. Thanks, Sis. She died the same day Heart locked down her blogs. I hope you are right about the outcome, but perhaps I should clarify, the troublemaker is not an online enemy of Heart.
I have not felt much like blogging myself, since then. I wrote up a few news stories, but have a bunch more sitting in my draft queue.

Not to worry Aletha.
“the troublemaker is not an online enemy of Heart.”
I know.

Heart reopened her primary blog, to give tribute to Mary Daly, the day after her death. This may be temporary, and some of her sites are still locked down. I do not think her troubles are over, but hopefully the worst is behind her.
I have decidedly mixed feelings about Mary Daly. Many lies and willful misinterpretations are circulating about her. There are aspects of her vision that trouble me deeply, but she was full of profound insights regardless.
