This page links announcements of our candidates, after this introduction.
Can you imagine, participating in creating a new political reality? Are you rebellious, sick of politics as usual, as Democratic politicians walk the tightrope, not to appear too radical, liberal, anti-war, or principled, holding limited hearings on criminal activity directed at the top while in power in both houses, wavering on any principles they had left on issue after issue to win over nobody?
Register Your Protest!
Let these agents of empire know, you will not be taken for granted again, or manipulated by the politics of fear. Voters have alternatives, independent candidates who do honor their principles. If enough people register Free Soil, there will be more. Any woman who registers Free Soil, choosing it for her party on the registration form, will be eligible to vote and run for whatever office suits her in our online convention starting in September 2008. Men who register and show genuine interest may also vote.
Free Soil is a party of principles, for nonviolent revolution, as envisioned by women with visionary bold creative practical plans to clean up the mess conventional practices create and perpetuate. Whatever myths about Cheryl Lindsey Seelhoff, the writer known on feminist forums as Heart, or the party you may have encountered, this is quoted from the official platform blog of the first volunteer Free Soil candidate.
I am running for President of the United States on the Free Soil Party Ticket. These are the issues I believe are most important:
* Peace in the world and in our nation, an end to war;
* An end to rape and an end to violence against women;
* Justice for all people of all ages, races, ethnicities, abled and disabled, and without regard to who people love or how they look;
* An end to poverty and with it, insuring that all citizens have good food, adequate shelter, clean water, decent housing, health care, education and sufficient income for all of their lives;
* Building a society which is friendly and hospitable to children, animals, and the earth, where the lives of human beings and animals really matter;
* Protecting and healing the earth we live in.
* A government that is truly of the people and by the people and interested, first and foremost, in people.
Free Soil ideas of change are of a different bent, concrete, down to earth, revisioning the root, meant to rock the boat, change the rules of the game. More general principles include: to shrink hierarchal authority to the minimum law and order required to protect the rights of the people; restructure taxation to emphasize taxes on luxuries, including pollution and speculation; require industry to honor the precautionary principle, to prevent the toxic messes and disease caused by industry friendly oversight ignoring that life friendly principle; abolish role stereotyping, genetic and chemical assault, abuse of authority; revision all the models of reality men have created, creating new ways of relating and doing business without valuing dominance.
Perfect agreement is implausible and unexpected, but if that sort of visionary independent politics sounds interesting, we invite one and all to our associated blogs Free Soil Party blog Heart’s blog (with a long blogroll) or free for all forum, where volunteer candidates can make statements in dedicated protected forums, or post links. Just register at the forum and post a statement why you want to run, so it can be moved to a sub-forum you moderate. Registration was originally not required to post at the forum or blogs, but due to the volume of spam and fake registrations swamping the forum, I have to ask people to send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org explaining why they wish to join the board before registering.
